Bupati Kutai Barat, Frederick Edwin, menghadiri acara adat Gugu Taotn atau Gugu tahun di Kampung Sekolaq Darat , Rabu (19/03/2025),kehadiran Bupati Kubar sebagai wujud dukungan untuk pelestarian adat dan budaya di Kabupaten Kutai Barat.
Bupati Frederick Edwin mengungkapkan kehadirannya sebagai bentuk dukungan yang kuat dari pemerintah daerah terhadap upaya pelestarian budaya.
“Kita harus bangga dan terus menjaga warisan leluhur kita agar nilai-nilai luhur ini bisa terus hidup di tengah-tengah masyarakat,” ucap Bupati.
Untuk diketahui acara adat Gugu Taotn upacara adat yang digelar sebagai salah satu wujud ucapan syukur atas panen raya yang dilakukan oleh suku Dayak Tunjung dan Benuaq di beberapa daerah di Kalimantan Timur.
Selain itu Gugu tahun sering dilakukan sebagai acara tolak bala atau pembersih kampung,dan juga sebagai penghormatan kepada roh nenek moyang.
Acara gugu tahun merupakan bagian dari warisan budaya yang telah turun-temurun dilakukan.
Acara gugu tahun biasanya dilaksanakan dalam beberapa hari hingga hitungan minggu dan pada puncak acara dilakukan pemotongan sapi atau kerbau
